NBC, ABC, USA, CW, and many others have awesome shows that just grab your mind, but the one that compelled me to think the most has to be a brilliant production from Netflix named Sense8. For those who have not seen it, you are missing out on a powerful mental orgasm. For those who have seen it, well, you know what I am talking about.
The show starts with a lady giving birth to 8 children around the world and the offing herself while she talks to two different people, seemingly in two different time streams. No, I am not high and yes, you read all of that correctly. You need to see at least 4 episodes to grasp the meaning.
If this seems too complicated for you, just remember that this has been brought to you by the team that developed complex story line of 'The Matrix'. Yes, Netflix managed to rope in the Wachowski brothers to direct the show. Anything less complicated than what was mentioned just above would be an insult for their prowess.
Coming over to the show, it is about 8 people, spread around the world suddenly having visions of a lady shooting herself, and then, seeing weird things like a chicken in the middle of her office, or hearing disco music from an empty apartment. The eight people, as they would be known as sensates, share their thoughts, feelings, and skills within each other. To spice things up, we have a runaway sensate helping them in their path of understanding and a rogue sensate trying to hunt them down and eliminating them.
I could go on about the story in detail but I would hate to reveal any spoilers. The acting is on the spot. Showing the journey of them trying to understand what is happening to them to making the best of their abilities to help each other is enthralling.
The show starts off slow. Netflix has taken its time establishing the characters and the plot line. But once you get the hang of it, it's just a powerful journey from there. The background score plays a pivotal role in the show, as many of the scenes depend on them, to show connectivity between the sensates. The visuals are too good not to applaud for them. As I mentioned earlier, just watching the show is a visual treat.
On the risk of running a bit too long, I would advise every TV show fan to watch the show. I, being an ardent fan of the Wachowskis, have a blind spot for their work. Do let me know the flaws that you find in the show. Also, connect with me to know more about any other details you want before deciding on the binge watching Sense8.
